"The Perfect Storm" |
|
| |
The world is changing faster than ever. Today, businesses
are being affected by a surge of life-altering trends including global
networking, rapid urbanisation, changing population dynamics and legislation
designed to limit our impact on the environment. In addition to these
rising challenges, the world recently endured an onslaught of dramatic
events such as the global credit crisis and a broad spectrum market slowdown.
We're in the midst of a perfect storm. The question is, what impact are
these trends having on supply chains? How are business leaders countering
or capitalising on these trends and events?

Scrutinising the Complexity Masters |
|
| |
In 2003, based on a sample of companies located and operating
in the developed economies of Western Europe and North America, Deloitte
discovered that companies with complex value chains and the capability
to manage this complexity, are 73% more successful than their peers. Deloitte
called these companies "Complexity Masters". The 2008 supplychainforesight
study in South Africa proved that the theory of Complexity Masters holds
true in SA too; a developing economy.
Within the context of "The Perfect Storm", Supply Chain Intelligence
Report 2009 will seek to uncover in detail how the Complexity Masters
are capitalising on their changing environment, how they cope with erratic
demand and inaccurate forecasts, and their strategic plans moving forward.
